One of our longest tenured instructors, we are so happy to have Christina Merz back to work as a substitute teacher with Head Above Water for her 12th season! Christina graduated from UC Santa Cruz with a degree in environmental studies and sociology and is now a high school science teacher. She started swimming competitively in middle school and continued to compete throughout high school. Christina has been a lifeguard and swim instructor for over ten years. Christina is one of our most popular teachers and she is looking forward to teaching your child to swim and strengthen their relationship with the water.
"My son said Christina helped him so much with this strokes! He swam the next day with his swim team and said his coach even noticed how much he improved. Thank you!!"

"As grandparents, we are thrilled with Charlie and Flynn's progress; and incredibly pleased with their instructor, Christina. Christina has been absolutely marvelous. She is a born teacher. She creatively instructs, corrects and advances our grandchildren to higher levels of accomplishments. She has perfected their freestyle, backstroke, and now onto the butterfly! Charlie and Flynn have a great time with her and always come away smiling and happy and their progress has been tremendous!"

"Aviva took instantly to Christina. Christina did an excellent job of rapidly adjusting the lesson to meet Aviva's ability and confidence and it was wonderful to watch how deftly she moved Aviva through playful structured lessons. She had exactly the right attitude of caring, encouraging, and disciplined. An exceptional first lesson!"
