Parent-and-Me Swim Lessons
Our Parent-and-Me Swim Lessons are designed to teach young children ages 6-24 months* the basic building blocks of learning to swim, in a fun and nurturing environment. In this introductory class, your young swimmer will become acclimated with the water and be introduced to some of the basic skills they will need to swim independently at an older age. Visit our Parent and Me Prices Page for a breakdown of pricing options for Private and
Group parent-and-me swim lessons in Los Angeles.
Some of the skills your child will be introduced to include:
floating (on stomach and back)
learning proper arm motions
jumping from the side of the pool (starting in a seated position)
climbing out of the pool
putting his/her face in the water
going underwater, holding his/her breath
All skills will at first be aided by the parent and as the child continues to practice the skills they will move towards doing the skills on their own. At this point the child would be ready to graduate to one of our “Beginner” classes.
The Parent-and-Me swim lessons can be scheduled as either private, semi-private, or group lessons. However, we do not set up the groups. Rather, if you have your own pool you can choose to organize your own group of up to 6-8 swimmers. We currently only offer the group lessons as an in-home service (if you have your own pool). If you want to come to one of the Head Above Water pool locations, we only offer private Parent-and-Me Lessons and options vary by location. See our prices page for more information on how prices vary depending on how many children are in the class.
*Note: The age range of 6 months - 24 months is only a general guideline. Each child learns at his or her own pace. With this being said, we may have some children older than 24 months still doing a parent and me class and similarly we might have a child younger than 24 months ready for a “Beginner” class. Please consult with the Head Above Water office to get more information about which class is right for your child. Click Here to contact us with your questions.
